5 Years of Wonder, Excitement, and Joy....

On this day 5 years ago, Baker came to be.  With a shake of his fist and an exclamation he said I want to be here and it was so... :)  Baker has been a source of amazement and inspiration to us and to all that come to know his story.

We were just recently in the hospital in which he was born and as if it was yesterday I remembered and relived the experience we had there.  I stopped in the chapel, where we prayed countless nights for his health and happiness and recalled those prayers.  I found that his Neonatalogist now works in South Florida and we have no idea where his primary nurse is.  5 years have gone so quickly, and I just want all of his care givers to know our endless appreciation for his care and his progress and health today.

He's an incredible reader, and says some of the coolest things.   He currently wants to be a Volcanologist (really!), and loves desserts and hates quicksand.  He also really likes forests. He just graduated Pre-K and is getting ready for Kindergarten.  Finally he knows every car by name (even some exotics), and short of poor eye site has no sign of any other difficulties that should have plagued him for being born so early.

Happy Birthday my Son!!!!!

Slowly coming back...

Sooo much has happened in the past year, and it's all been for the most part excellent.  I'm currently "refreshing" the blog and will update all on Baker's past year very shortly.  In summary, he has had another excellent year, with no major set backs.

Stay tuned for pictures and stories.....

3 Years Ago Today, We had No Idea...

3 Years Ago Today We had no idea ...
...that this young life would change us.
...That Doctors don't have all the answers.
...That Miracles happen.
...That our boy would be completely fine.
...That our son would touch parents across the planet, from Peru to Taiwan.

When we prepare to celebrate his 3rd year here, again it's always good to reflect on how we got here and thank all that contributed to his being the healthy, happy boy he is today...

I have to dig up the original letters prior to his birth. But here is an easy way to get through his story...

Chapter 1 - He's here!!!!
Chapter 2 - Struggling for breath...
Chapter 3 - Last Stretch, Almost Home.
Chapter 4 - Home!!!

Summer Time....

I know I've been a very bad blogger. Baker's 2nd Birthday has come and gone in a whirlwind. He took a nice summer vacation at camp Granny and Baba, in South Carolina. He's back home now, and at a brand new school that rocks. The whirlwind of being a parent of a super active 2 year old, has left me little time to document it here... (ok that maybe an excuse, but anyway...) :) In summary all is fantastic! Everytime he says "Daddy!" or "Alright!" or "Grape!" I get overwhelmed with pride at how incredible our little man is - how far he's come....

February "Fun" and March Madness!

Well again much has happened since the last post. Baker is walking now! It's soooo cool, and though it took a little longer than we thought he finally has decided that bipedal mobility is much better then crawling!

The beginning of February, Baker started day care. After vetting what seemed like a thousand different places we finally settled with the Easter Seals, since they can also provide his physical and speech therapy and have experience with working with children who may be a little behind developmentally. His second day of school he came home with a fever and his first cold! His Grand-ma came down from South Carolina to visit and help out while he was out of school sick (which was awesome!) And right before she left he decided to start walking all over the place... Ever since then we’ve all been getting sick on and off. I think we are finally through it... (Praying, crossing fingers etc…) Baker has had constant ear infections, and his pediatrician is prepping us for putting tubes in his ears if they continue. He’s had ear infections since he started school, and we are all wondering if this is the source of his speech not being exactly where it should be at this age. We’ll see…

It’s sooo crazy Baker is almost 2! Where has the time gone?!?!
Enjoy the new pictures and movies…
